Gourmet Chocolate
Gourmet chocolates are tasty and absolutely divine. Gourmet chocolates make wonderful gifts, but it is also nice to buy them for yourself every once in a while. Whether it be a birthday, holiday, a peace offering, or a love offering, gourmet chocolates are an excellent way to say “I love you”, “I’m sorry”, “get well’, “Happy Holidays”, or anything else.
There are many occasions to give gourmet chocolates, the most popular of which is undoubtedly Valentine’s Day (February 14). Chocolate lovers go crazy on this famed ‘day of love’. Everyone buys chocolate on Valentine’s Day, some for their significant other to say “I love you”, and some for consolation because they are alone. For this occasion chocolate is often made in a heart shape and sent adorned with red, pink, and white ribbons and bows.
Gourmet chocolates are sometimes set out during Thanksgiving and decorated with turkeys or during the Christmas holiday season and are decked out in red and green. Chocolates are also often sent for birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Easter, and New Year’s Day. There are some national and world holidays that give people reasons (and excuses) to give chocolate, or buy it for themselves. Some of these are Chocolate Mint Day, American Chocolate Week, Eat What You Want Day, International Chocolate Day, Milk Chocolate Day, White Chocolate Day, Bittersweet Chocolate Day, Chocolate Covered Anything Day, and just plain old Chocolate Day. Another important date not to forget: June is known as National Candy Month. Some of these things were probably invented for the sole purpose of eating chocolate.
There are various types of gourmet chocolates and different kinds of candies. The goodies they combine to make are all absolutely delicious. The three main kinds of chocolate are dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate. Dark chocolate has over 50% cocoa content and is the most used in gourmet candies because of its slightly bitter flavor. Milk chocolate is only 10% cocoa content and is flavored with cream and sugar, giving it a sweeter flavor. White chocolate has much higher butter content and a much less intense chocolate flavor, but the taste is still to die for.
There are millions of types of candies made from gourmet chocolates: chocolate covered, chocolate flavored, chocolate drizzled, and many more. Fudge is an old-fashioned favorite and is a semi-soft candy with a classic, chocolate taste. Truffles are a very popular gourmet delicacy with many variations, including tradition raspberry flavored and the unique café au late. Many fruits, such as cherries, apricots, blueberries, and strawberries, are dipped or drizzled with chocolate. Many nuts are covered in gourmet chocolates, and when combined with the salty nuts and caramel, are very tempting.
Let’s face it; receiving any type of gift, especially gourmet chocolates, will make anyone feel special. Gourmet chocolates do not have to be given away, however; indulging in chocolate is part of what makes it taste so good.
